一.  What is the definition and characteristics of high frequency board and high speed board?

High frequency board, also known as Rogers PCB board, is widely used in electronic products, such as radio communication, radar, satellite communication and other fields. It is generally believed that in the case of an operating frequency of more than 500MHz, it is necessary to use a Rogers PCB.

Rogers PCB characterized by its excellent transmission performance in the high frequency operating environment. Compared with the high frequency Rogers PCB board, the high speed board involves a lower frequency of modulation and demodulation, but a higher rate, generally Gbps level.

The high speed board is characterized by better isometric performance of its circuits, better signal integrity and anti-interference ability when transmitting high speed digital signals. In addition, the board thickness of the high speed PCB is generally thicker, which can effectively inhibit EMI (electromagnetic interference). It often use M4, M6, S7045G, Synamic 6 and other materials.

二.  What is the difference between high frequency board and high speed board?

Although the high frequency board and the high speed board are PCB boards used for transmitting signals, there are several differences between the two in practical applications.

1.     Different frequency range

Rogers PCB boards are used in frequency bands exceeding 500MHz, while high speed boards are mainly used when transmitting digital signals, in the demodulation frequency of tens of MHz to GHz class.

2.     Circuit width and board thickness are different

Because the high frequency PCB needs to use a fine circuit, its circuit width and distance are thinner than the high speed PCB, and the board thickness is relatively thin. The circuit length of the high speed board is better, so the circuit width and distance can be appropriately increased, and the board thickness can also be slightly thicker.

3.     Different materials

The dielectric constant of the materials commonly used in Rogers PCB is smaller than that of high speed boards to reduce the loss of signal transmission. The materials commonly used in high speed boards are usually better than general PCB boards, such as FR4 high TG materials.


三.  Application of high frequency board and high speed board

1.     Application high frequency boards

High frequency board is widely used in radio communication, radar, satellite communication and other fields. Due to the use of fine circuit, it can reduce signal loss, improve the transmission rate and receive sensitivity, so it can ensure the accuracy of signal transmission and reception in the high frequency environment.

2.     Application high speed boards

In the computer motherboard, industrial computer, measurement and control instrument and other fields, high speed board is widely used. Because of its good circuit length, it can ensure better signal integrity and anti-interference ability when transmitting high speed digital signals.
